Hebrews 10:23-25
“Obey those who rule over you,
and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give
account.” Heb 13:17
“But in fact God has arranged
the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:18 (NIV)
POINT 1- The Focus should be on our
CONFESSION (Verse 23)
A.
Our confession of
hope is founded in the message of the GOSPEL
B.
Our confession expressed
locally in the church can be conveyed in certain marks of a healthy church.
1) Expository Preaching; 2)
Biblical Theology; 3) Biblical Gospel, Conversion, Evangelism; 4) Membership
5) Biblical Church Discipline;
6) Biblical Discipleship and Growth; 7) Biblical Church Leadership
C.
Our confession must
be held on to tenaciously without WAVERING
D.
Our confession is
based on trusting that God has put this body together and is FAITHFUL
to it! (Rom 8:28)
POINT 2-
The Focus should be on OTHERS (Verse
24)
A.
We are called to “take
notice” and consider others as OURSELVES (Romans 12:3, 16; Philippians 2:3)
B.
We are not called
to take notice of their FAULTS, but instead to stir LOVE AND GOOD
WORKS!
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of
sins.” 1 Peter 4:8 (Mat 18:35; Eph 4:32)
POINT 3-
The Focus should be on the dynamics of our COMMUNITY OF SAINTS (Verse 25; Ephesians 3:10-11)
A. Our community requires that we do not ABANDON it because
its difficult or because of persecution.
Why people leave?
B. Our community needs each of us to be a type of the HOLY SPIRIT,
especially as we see Jesus’ return coming.
“As iron sharpens iron, So a man
sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17 (Galatians 5:22-23)
Deeper grow
closer to Jesus as well as helping your brothers and sisters do the same!
