1 Peter 5:6-14

 

1 Peter Series- “Living for the Glory of God in a Hostile World”

 

“Therefore… whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Cor 10:31

 

POINT 1- To bring God glory we need to trust in His PROVIDENCE

         

A.   Trusting in God’s providence requires being genuinely HUMBLE

(Leviticus 16:29-31; Jeremiah 13:18; James 4:10; Isaiah 66:2)

 

B.    Trusting in God’s providence requires submission to His TIMEFRAME

(Hebrews 6:12; John 7:6, 8; Titus 1:3; Romans 5:6; 1 Tim 2:6)

 

C.   Trusting in God’s providence requires living life WORRY-FREE

(Mat 6:25, 31, 34; Philippians 4:6; Heb 13:5-6;  Neg. - Luke 21:34; Mat 13:22)

 

    

Going           God wants you quit doubting Him and to begin trusting in your Father!

POINT 2- To bring God glory we need to trust in His PROTECTION

 

A.     Trusting in God’s protection requires us to be watchful of our ENEMY

(2 Cor. 2:11; 11:3-15; See sheet for ways in which he attacks)

He uses Doubt, Despair, Discouragement, Discord, Deception, Distraction, etc.

B.     Trusting in God’s protection requires us to be good with the SWORD

(Matthew 4:4-11; Ephesians 6:10-18; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; James 4:7)

 

Going         God wants you to not be ignorant of our enemy, but focus on TRUTH.

POINT 3- To bring God glory we need to trust in His PURPOSE

 

A.   As we trust in God’s purpose, we believe that His Grace is SUFFICIENT

(2 Corinthians 12:7-10; 2 Peter 3:18)

 

B.    Trusting in God’s purpose gives us an unshakeable HOPE

(Romans 8:28; Ephesians 1:11, 3:11; 2 Timothy 1:9)

 

Going         God wants you to trust that He is has a purpose in all of our trials.
