Go to EPHESIANS 5:25-32: LOVE, SACRIFICE, PURIFY, NOURISH

^“Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.” Colossians 3:19

POINT 1- A godly man will bring God glory in his SUBMISSION (“likewise”)

A. Husbands are to bring God glory through meeting his wife’s NEEDS

(Ephesians 5:25-32; He is to love, sacrifice, purify, nourish, assure her)

LADIES, LIST 5 THINGS YOU NEED FROM YOUR HUSBAND.

“Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.” Colossians 3:19

Going God expects husbands to give their LIVES for their wives.

POINT 2- A godly man will bring God glory in his UNDERSTANDING

A. Husbands are called to DWELL with their wives at home.

(A husband’s primary focus should be with his home & family) not job

B. Husbands are commanded to dwell with wives according to Knowledge

READ HOW NOT TO DO IT BELOW!

1) Her favorite things? 2) Is she stressed? 3) Lonely? 4) Tired? 5) Her needs?

Going God expects husbands to be active in knowing the woman He gave them!

POINT 3- A godly man will bring God glory in his PRAISE

A. Husbands are commanded to give VALUE to his wife.

COUNSELOR ASKS who was greatest INFLUENCE last 15 years.

Tell her: 1) you love her; 2) she is valuable (with examples); 3) by your actions

Ladies, we don’t get it. LIST 5 WAYS YOUR HUSBAND CAN HONOR YOU BETTER.

Going God demands that husbands value their wives and see them as Heirs!

WARNING: “so that your (plural-both) prayers aren’t hindered”

Examples of how not to live with your wife in an understanding way:
1) Treating your wife as a pack mule - you can carry the whole load - throwing every responsibility on your wife until she collapses (or a work horse)
2) Treating your wife as a jackass - unintelligent fool that doesn't know anything
3) Treating your wife as a mouse - Squelching her personality; being overbearing; allowing her just to squeek a little once in awhile - but not helping her to grow into the person God intended for her to be
4) Treating your wife as a lion = king of the jungle; bowing to every demand; abdicating our leadership in the home and allowing her to take over and rule the roost; some husbands are completely dominated by their wife; they live as a mouse in their home
5) Treating your wife as a golden retriever (get this for me; do this for me;...) rather than as a helpmeet provided by God; wife not intended to be your slave
6) Treating your wife as just one of the worker bees rather than as the queen bee: one of the masses; vs. That very special and unique one
