“Two Ways, Two Destinations” 3/18/07
Genesis 4:16-26
How
do we know anything about Pre-Flood life?
Genesis 4.
Moses
is going to bring to our attention TWO groups.
POINT 1- The first road (way) one
can choose is patterned after CAIN
A.
After
leaving the presence of God, Cain seeks to follow his own way.
1) He builds a city to avoid being a WANDERER
2) He builds a city to protect Himself demonstrating
lack of TRUST
3) He builds a city to make a name for himself through
his son Enoch.
B.
The
Bible describes an advanced culture utilizing animal husbandry, music, and the
mastery
of metallurgy with bronze
and iron.
C.
Cain’s
son Lamech goes the way of his father through bigamy and PRIDE
“Woe
to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain” Jude 11
“There
is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Prov 14:12
POINT 2- The second road (way) one
can choose is patterned after SETH
A. Eve believed that Seth was the appointed seed that was promised.
B. Seth’s actions brought about a reversal where people began to call
on GOD
Matthew 7:13-29
1) Jesus tells us that the broad way is well POPULATED
2) The way to eternal life is the narrow road which
is DIFFICULT
3) The evidence of those on the right road if faith
mixed with OBEDIENCE
4) When we live our life according to the Word, we
will be able to stand strong through
the trial and tempests of LIFE
Which road are you on? Are you living the way of Cain or calling on the name of the Lord
in the
footsteps of
Seth? Choose this day which road you
will go down.
