“Everything Lost, Nothing Gained”   2/18/07

Genesis 3:1-24

 

FOUNDATION of SINFUL world starts here.  Murder, Polygamy, Homo, Drunkeness,

Incest, Idolatry, Rape, Mass Murder, Harlotry, All kinds of wickedness.

EXODUS 34:5-7

 

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.  Then, when

desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”  James 1:14-15

 

POINT 1- Adam and Eve were confronted with the TEMPATIONS of sin.

                                                                   

A.   The Serpent causes Eve to doubt the COMMAND of God.  Was Crystal Clear.

B.    The Serpent causes Eve to doubt the PROMISE of God.  John 8:44

C.   The Serpent causes Eve to doubt the CHARACTER of God.

“For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life –

is not of the Father but is of the world.”  1 John 2:16  (Matt 4:1-11)

 

PROV 14:12   ILL- walking through a mine field blind, WE NEED GOD’S WORD!

 

Satan will get you focused on the one thing you can’t have versus all the good you do! Phil 4:8

 

POINT 2- Adam and Eve were confronted with the CORRUPTION of sin.

 

A. Adam and Eve tried to make right what they didn’t have the ability to do.

B. Adam and Eve believed they could hide from the KNOWLEDGE of God.

C. Adam and Eve both pointed the finger and gave EXCUSES for their sin.

Isaiah 6:1-5

 

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing

even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts

 and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked

and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”  Hebrews 4:12-13

 

COLOSSIANS 3:5-9  HAS SIN CORRUPTED YOU?  DECEIVED YOU?

 

POINT 3- Adam and Eve were confronted with the PENALTY of sin.

 

A. The Serpent was judged and would one day be bruised on his head.

B. The Woman was judged and will now have pain in pregnancy and childbirth as well as being

 ruled by her husband (who might do it without love).

C. The Man was judged and will find it difficult to be a provider and hard labor.

D. God showed mercy in covering them, but then expelled them from His presence.

We are now all sinners (Psalm 14:1-3) and sin has separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2). 

God has killed His own Son to cover and remove our sin (Isaiah 53:4-5) and has offered

blessings and eternal life to all who trust Him (Psalm 2:12; John 3:16).  Will you make

excuses for sin or seek God and live?
