“Life: It’s Source, Purpose, Destiny” 2/4/07
Genesis 2:4-17
The following could give
my life more meaning:______________________
Money, Wealth,
Fame, Time, etc.?
POINT 1- To
understand the meaning of life, we must recognize its SOURCE
A.
The creation process
ended, God gives us the offspring of the CREATION
B.
God focuses in on two
problems. No specific vegetation or rain.
C.
God solves the first
problem by bringing A MIST to
water the ground.
D.
God solves the second
problem by creating Man to serve the ground.
“And so it is written,
‘The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam became a life-giving
spirit’. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second
Man is the Lord from heaven.” 1 Corinthians 15:45, 47
If evolution,
then man has no meaning that is eternal.
"…for in Him we
live and move and have our being” Acts 17:28
We need to recognize that
God created each of us special; with our uniqueness.
POINT 2-
Understanding it’s source, we know life was given for a PURPOSE
A. God finished
creating, but then planted a garden for man to live in.
B. God’s desire
was for us to live in a state of REST
C. It was Adam’s
responsibility to serve and keep (guard) the GARDEN
“…and He died for all,
that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died
for them and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15
“Therefore we make it
our purpose, whether alive or dead, to be well pleasing to Him.” 2
Corinthians 5:9
"It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' " Matthew 4:4
POINT 3- Life
has a purpose, but our decisions determine our DESTINY
A. God desired
man to love Him, and so He gave man only 1 prohibition to test him.
B. The tree of
the knowledge of good and evil was the path to autonomy.
C. God warned
them that to go down that path would certainly lead to death.
“There
is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs
14:12; See Matthew 7:13-14
“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey
it!" Luke 11:28
