“Dark to Light and
Emptiness to Hospitable” 1/14/07
Genesis 1:3-13
“Always be ready to give
a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with
meekness and fear” 1 Peter 3:15
Important
Vocabulary
Theistic
Evolution (EV)- God
created the world, but then used EV as His process.
Progressive
Creationism- God created
the world over billions of years stepping in at certain times to introduce
order. Follow a “Day-Age” theory. Room for fossils but includes death before
sin and apelike creatures before man. Day Age fails.
SCIENCE NOT A
HERMENEUTIC- Science books change constantly
NT supports
Creation: Mark 10:6; 13:19; John 1:3; Acts 4:24; Acts 14:15; Acts 17:26

POINT 1- Day
One describes the division of darkness and LIGHT
Proverbs 8:27,
“When He drew a circle on the face of the deep”
A.
By His omnipotent
power, He spoke Light into existence.
B.
This light was
good and was divided from the darkness.
C.
God named the
light Day and the darkness He named Night.
D.
A progression of
evening and morning shows a 24 hour period.
The Hebrews word for day (yom)
always refers to 24 hour day when with number.
“For in six days the LORD
made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested
the seventh day.” Exodus
20:11
“For it is the God who
commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give
the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus
Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

A. God commanded the waters to divide from waters
above from those below.
B. God named the expanse Heavens.
C. The evening and morning bring to the end day
2.
Preaching
Point- God speaks and it is! God never
fails! The Majesty of God is shown!
When were the angels
created? Let’s see Job 38:4-9 and Psalm 104:1-9.
POINT 3- Day
Three describes the division of the waters from the LAND
A. God commanded the seas to go to one place and
for the land to appear.
B. God created shrubs and trees which reproduce
after their kind. DNA.
C. God saw that it was doubly good and thus ended
day 3.
Did God create the world
and then walk away? What if God was to
turn Himself off from the World? The answer is in Acts 17:28 and Colossians
1:16-17.
Let’s acknowledge God as
our Creator, Sustainer, Savior, and Daddy (Abba).
Robert E. Smith, a member of the western Missouri
affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union whom you would know to be no
friend of Scripture, says this, and I quote, "For the past five years I
have closely followed creationist literature and have attended lectures and
debates on related issues. Based solely
on the scientific arguments pro and con, I have been forced to conclude that
scientific creationism is not only a viable theory but that it has achieved
parody, if not superiority over the normative theory of biological evolution.
That this should now be the case is somewhat surprising, particularly in view
of what most of us were taught in primary ad secondary school." He goes on, "In practical terms, the
past decade of intense activity by scientific creationists has left most evolutionist
professors unwilling to debate the creationist professors. Too many of the evolutionists have been
publicly humiliated in such debates by their own lack of erudition and by the
weakness of their theory," end quote.
