“Getting to Know our Father- Sing a New Song” 12/31/06

Proverbs 3:1-18

Our Father is the God of the NEW- wine, song, covenant, doctrine, languages, garment, commandment, tomb, lump, man, living way, heavens, earth, life, name, Jerusalem.

“Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me, Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:5

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

POINT 1- Seven Precepts that are worthy Resolutions for 2007

A. We need to resolve to be consistently involved with His WORD

1) The Word of God must be a PRIORITY in our lives. Bible in a year list.

2) Reading the Word without actions of OBEDIENCE is worthless.

“Don’t you know that faith without works is dead?” James 2:19

3) When we obey God’s Word, we will have longevity, abundance, and PEACE.

B. We need to resolve to be people of KINDNESS and TRUTH

Are you loving, kind, generous, forgiving, and a person of INTEGRITY, best employee

1) As we demonstrate these from the heart, we will find favor with God and man.

C. We need to resolve to be people of FAITH and DEPENDENCE

We need to be people of FAITH and PATIENCE. Heb 6:10 Story of Abraham/Hagar

1) When we trust in His sovereignty and acknowledge Him, He will guide.

D. We need to resolve to be HUMBLE and to FEAR the Lord.

1) Are you judgmental, critical, a know it all, easy to work with, your way or high way person? Phil 2:3, “In humility, consider others better than yourself.” Pr 6:17

2) Do you have a conscience that fears God or man? God sees all.

E. We need to resolve to be honoring to God with our MONEY

1) Make this the year that you honor God FIRST. We are called to give consistently (1 Cor 16:1-2); Sacrificially (Luke 21:1-4); Cheerfully (2 Cor 9:6-9).

2) If you have financial challenges, is it because you haven’t been faithful?

F. We need to resolve to receive the tribulations of life with a right PERSPECTIVE

Read Hebrews 12:1-11.

G. We need to resolve to be seekers of WISDOM through God’s Word. Beg/Ends with the Word.

1) We can find wisdom through patience, prayer, fellowship, accountability, humility, and tenacity.

GOD IS THE GOD OF NEW BEGINNINGS, WILL YOU PURSUE HIM THIS YEAR?
