“Getting to Know Our
Father- He is a Savior” 12/10/06
“Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me.” Isaiah 45:21
Savior- one who
delivers, rescues, redeems, saves, liberates.
POINT 1- By
necessity of His attributes, our Father is a SAVIOR
A. The first act of saving was to save Adam from LONELINESS Gen
2:18
B. God delivered Adam & Even from eternal SEPARATION Gen 3:22-23
C. Moses was used by God to provide physical SALVATION Ex 14:10-14
D. God seeks to be savior to us in our FINANCES 1 Kings 17:8-16
E. God grants children to those who are BARREN Judges 13; 1 Sam 2:1-10
F. God meets our greatest need and saves us from His WRATH Romans 5:9
“For whatever things
were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience
and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” Rom 15:4
“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” 1 Cor 10:11
“Who is this who comes
from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is glorious in His
apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength? -- "I who speak in
righteousness, mighty to save." Isaiah 63:1
POINT 2- By
necessity of our attributes, we show ourselves as DOUBTERS
(Matthew 11:1-6)
A.
John the Baptist had been the
forerunner and yet he still DOUBTED
(See
Is 11:4; 61:2; Matt 3:12; John 1:29)
B.
We see that even through the doubt,
Jesus gives the ANSWER
(See Luke 18:1-8 and 2 Cor 5:7).
“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12
