“Getting to Know our Father- His Holiness” 11/19/06

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" Isaiah 6:3

"Be holy, for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16

What is Holiness? “Holier than thou”, “Holy Roller”, No fun, Rigid, legalistic, strict.

To be SEPARATE some might say PURE.

GOD’S STANDARD, NOT MAN!

POINT 1- True Holiness is determined by our ACTIONS

A. God will judge affronts to His Holiness that are INSINCERE

Leviticus 10:1-3

B. God will judge affronts to His Holiness that are SINCERE

2 Samuel 6:1-9

Ephesians 5:1-7 lays out our responsibility and need for sensitivity to sin.

“You who love the LORD, hate evil!” Psalm 97:10

POINT 2- True Holiness is determined by our MOTIVATIONS Acts 5:1-11

A. Ananias’ act of giving to the Lord was an act of OBEDIENCE

B. Anania’s righteous act was contaminated by his DECEPTION

1 Peter 1:13-19

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 (see Philippians 3:20)

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 (see John 17:14)

Are you Holy in your entertainment? Language? Conduct? Work-ethic? Thoughts?
