“God’s Blessings: to the Praise of His Glory” 3/12/06
“Truly as I live, says the LORD, the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.” Num 14:21; Habakkuk 3:3
“To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations” Eph. 3:21
How is God going to bring Praise to His Glory?
POINT 1- God will be glorified through creating a FAMILY Vv. 7-10
A. Being brought into God’s family, we have been REDEEMED v.7a
B. Being brought into God’s family, we have been FORGIVEN v. 7b
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1
C. Being brought into God’s family, we have been ENLIGHTENED v. 9
"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever.” Deut. 29:29
D. Being brought into God’s family, we are fulfilling His PURPOSE v.10
We have been chosen, predestined, adopted, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, enlightened. Paul is not even done yet!!
POINT 2- God will be glorified by using us as His PROOF Vv. 11-14
A. We have been given an INHERITANCE V.11
B. We have been predestined to be the proof of His GLORY V. 13
C. God has secured His plan by sealing us with the HOLY SPIRIT V.13-14
"You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for whatever is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring no one can revoke." Esther 8:8
We can see three things from this passage that are true of the Holy Spirit’s sealing:
1) Ownership- “You are not your own, you were bought with a price” (1 Cor. 6:19)
2) Security- “My sheep hear My voice…I know them and they hear My voice. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.” John 10:27-29
3) Irrevocable- “For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable” Rom. 11:29
