Seven Essentials of a Biblical Church Part 2- “Mission”   1/08/06.

What does a biblical church look like?  We can see from Scripture seven essentials necessary for a
church to find and fulfill its purpose in this world.  They are:

1)  A commitment to VISION (what we want to see);
2) A commitment to MISSION (how we get there);
3) A commitment to the WORD of God;
4) A commitment to biblical WORSHIP;
5) A commitment to EVANGELISM (world & personal);
6) A commitment to DISCIPLESHIP;
7) A commitment to UNITY.

What is the PURPOSE of the Church?    FELLOWSHIP?   TEACHING?  WORSHIP?

“To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:21

What brings God the greatest GLORY?  Creation?       Redemption?

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."    Luke 19:10

Recount entire history of the Bible as it relates to God seeking mankind.

POINT 1- To complete the mission requires the right ATTITUDES.  Matt. 28:16-18

  1. The first attitude we must possess is being AVAILABLE.  V. 16
  2.  The second attitude we must possess is that of WORSHIP.  V. 17
  3. The  third attitude we must possess is that of SUBMISSION. V. 18

Story of mountain climbing.  What are we holding on to that is weighing us down?

I can respond to this truth by being READY and WILLING.        HOW??

POINT 2- To complete the mission requires the right ACTION.  Matt. 28:19

  1. Because Jesus has all authority and is sending us to fulfill the

 great commission, we need to respond in OBEDIENCE.

Study 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 concerning our ambassadorship.

I can respond to this truth by REJOICING that Jesus wants to use me.

POINT 3- To complete the mission requires the right ASSOCIATION.  Matt. 28:20

  1. The Lord has not left alone but has promised us His PRESENCE in fulfilling His desire to
    reach a lost world and build His church.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Phil. 4:13

I can respond to this truth by TRUSTING in Jesus’ power, not my own. No excuses!

Jesus has given you a mission, are you willing to accept it?  Decide today that you will seek to have
the right attitude, action, and association in reaching the lost with the Gospel.
